MSOC Slips to Westcliff

Angwin, CALIFORNIA - On October 6th the Pacific Union Men's Soccer Team hosted the Westcliff Warriors in another CalPac match in hopes of getting another win. Kickoff was at 1 PM PDT and was around 75 degrees and sunny.

The Pioneers were put under pressure right away as Warriors striker Felix Kogler scored in the first 5 minutes of play. Both teams would continue to fight for the ball until the 30th minute, as the Warriors would score their 2nd goal of the game which was scored by Jussi Gerberding. As the ref blew the whistle for halftime the score would be 2-0 in favor of Westcliff. 

After halftime the Pioneers wanted to come out aggressive, as William Biondini would slot a goal away in the first 2 minutes of the second half, making the score 2-1. Unfortunately, the Warriors would score their 3rd, scored by Janis Hinterleitner. Captain Daniel Castro would score in the 87th minute to try to kickstart the comeback. Unfortunately, it was too late as even though the Pioneers fought hard, the game would finish 3-2 for the Warriors. 8 yellow cards were given out in the 2nd half, along with a red card to Marius Brondbo of Westcliff.

The Pioneers will host Saint Katherine on Thursday, October 13th at 12:00 PM PDT. The Pioneers hope to work hard in practice in hopes of getting redemption.
