PIONEERS CROSS COUNTRY COMPETE AT THE CAL PAC CHAMPIONSHIP

Pioneers men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Cal Pac championship meet held in Fresno, California. The men's team competed in the 8k race, while the women's team ran the 5k. The Pioneers competitors displayed solid running, and the men's team placed 8th out of the 11 teams, while the women's team placed 7th out 9 teams.

Sophomore Eric Daniels again was the top runner for the men's team, placing 46th overall after recording a time of 31:27. Stephaan Dick finished 57th overall, and Nephtali Marin finished 64th overall, with times of 32:23.1 and 33:48.8 respectively. The rest of the team Pablo Garrido (34:33.3 68th), Espen Scarbrough (36:09.4 73rd), and Micah Spegman (41:15.2 84th) finished the race strong. Six Pioneers runners contributed to the team's average time of 33:40.5, and the total time of 2:48:22.6. The Pioneers ended with a team score of 215, placing them 8th in the competition.

In the women's race, Senior Dirce Pliego led the way, improving her time from the first race and finishing 25th with a time of 22:49.1. Kiren MooreErika Thalman, and Fatima Sosa displayed good pack running, 40th, 41st, and 46th respectively with times of 24:42.8, 24:53.9, and 25:39.9. Prindid Montoya finished 60th with a time of 32:13.7. The Lady Pioneers were able finish with a score of 184, an average time of 26:03.9, and a total time of 2:10:19.6, good for a 7th place finish.
