A challenging start to the season hasn't prevented the Pacific Union College women's basketball team from demonstrating steady improvement, and the conference is taking notice. For the week of November 24-29, the Pioneers swept the Cal Pac Women's Basketball Player of the Week awards, highlighted by standout performances from Krystal Pineda and Raven James.

Pineda, a junior from Los Angeles, delivered a poised and efficient effort against NCAA D2 opponent Dominican University, scoring 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting. She also added six rebounds and two steals, further showcasing her all around impact. The forward has emerged as one of the top shooters in the conference, currently ranking second in the Cal Pac in three-point percentage at a remarkable 54.5%. Her consistent scoring and leadership on the floor highlight the growth of the PUC offense even in tough matchups.

Senior forward Raven James, a key anchor for the Pioneers, earned Defensive Player of the Week honors thanks to her strong presence on the boards. James grabbed seven rebounds and recorded a steal against Dominican, continuing her reliable defensive production. She currently sits 12th in the Cal Pac in rebounding, averaging 5.8 per game, and her effort underscores the defensive strides the team has been making as the season progresses.

With two players recognized among the conference's best this week, the Pioneers are proving that their hard work is paying off. Early results aside, the team's development is evident, and PUC athletes continue to rise to the top of Cal Pac leaderboards. The foundation for a promising stretch of the season is taking shape.
