Paul Castillo will be entering his second season as the Pioneers' Head Women's Volleyball Coach for the 2016-17 season. He completed his first season with a record of 14 wins and 10 losses.
A native to Santa Rosa, Castillo is no stranger to Pacific Union College. He attended high school at Redwood Adventist Academy and frequented PUC's campus for sporting events and conferences.
"I am thrilled and confident handing the program over to Paul. Not only does he have a great understanding of the game of volleyball, but he is coming to PUC invested in continuing to build a program of character-driven athletes," states Brittany Brown.
Castillo started his volleyball coaching career in 2004 at the Santa Rosa Junior College. He helped coach the team to six state championship appearances and three state championship runner-up finishes. While at SRJC he was able to coach under and learn from now Humboldt State's head coach Kelly Wood for nine years. Castillo has also been a part of successful club (Empire Volleyball, Absolute) and high school volleyball programs (Cardinal Newman High School).
Beyond coaching Paul played two seasons on the Sonoma State men's volleyball club and earned Runner-up and a National Championship title in 2010. While on the men's volleyball club, Castillo graduated Sonoma State with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. Castillo is an avid player and still competes in both outdoor grass and sand volleyball tournaments.
Paul Castillo states on his position, "I have been to Pacific Union College many times in the past to visit friends and family, and I couldn't be more excited to be part of the coaching staff. I am excited to be part of a community that cares about their student athletes on and off the court."
Madison graduated from Pacific Union College in 2017 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and a minor in Applied Christianity. She is currently coaching at Napa High School as well as Evolve Volleyball Club. Madison is excited to switch from a player to a coaching role within the Pacific Union College Women's Volleyball Program.
Madison played collegiate volleyball for Pacific Union College for four years as a setter. She played three years of varsity volleyball for Linfield Christian School and was named MVP for her last two years. Madison played club volleyball for Temecula Valley Volleyball Club(7 years), Cross Point Volleyball Club(1 year), and 951 Elite Volleyball Club(1 Year).
