PUC volleyball looks to rebuild after losing five graduated seniors. Coach Paul Castillo sees this season as an opportunity to revamp, and build on positive results from the 2016-17 season.
Pioneers volleyball will have a few new faces, with a growing recruiting class that includes transfer and freshmen players. These signings place the Lady Pioneers in good standing as they work towards constructing a successful campaign. Familiar faces like senior outside hitter Amanda Loeffler (SR/Hilo Town, HI) will also be important to this year's success. Coach Castillo has high hopes for Loeffler this season, and he is confident that she will build on her stellar performances from last year. "It is her senior year at PUC and she already holds many of the school records…I expect great things from her". Although there may be new talent, Coach Castillo still expects a high level of performance from the entire team. The Pioneers finished fifth in the conference last year, and they expect to climb the standings and challenge for a spot in the CAL PAC tournament.
PUC volleyball will travel to Rohnert Park, CA to open season play against Sonoma State on August 31, before travelling to Menlo College to face the Oaks on September 5, and to Rocklin, CA to face William Jessup University on September 12. PUC will return to Angwin to face UC Merced on September 29th at 2 pm, before facing the University of Antelope Valley on the 30th.
