ANGWIN, Calif. - Pacific Union College men's baskeball picked up back-to-back player of the week honors, with LeRoy Anderson (SR/Oakland, CA) on February 13th, and this week senior forward, Kwuan Guerrero (SR/Los Angeles, CA).
In the final week in Cal Pac play, Guerrero helped lead the Pioneers to a pair of critical road wins at UC Merced and Cal Maritime. The senior forward averaged 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 70.5% from the field and 87.5% from the free throw line in the two wins that moved PUC up to the third seed in the Cal Pac Championship tournament. The Los Angeles, Calif., native finished the week with a career high 25 points and five rebounds against the Keelhaulers.
Head Coach Greg Rahn states, "Kwuan has been a very special player for us over the three years he has been at PUC. He alway is doing the little things right on the court which are not always measured by what comes out on the stat sheet. This week the stats showed his importance to this team. Best part is, I don't think he had any idea of the number of points or rebounds he had, he worked hard and gave us the best chance to win with his unselfishness and effort."
The Pioneers look to continue their regular season success in the playoffs as they will face Benedictine- Mesa on February 26th at 4:00 p.m. in Vallejo, Calif.
