VALLEJO, Calif. – The Women's Basketball season came to an end Saturday night on the road against Cal Maritime. The team fought hard in the second half to get back into the game, but their comeback would ultimately fall short as they would lose 62-72.
The Lady Pioneers started by scoring the first five points of the game but struggled to keep their offense flowing as the half progressed. They fell down by eight by the end of the first quarter and went into the half trailing by 18.
PUC found themselves down by 20 points early in the third quarter but worked their way back into the game, seeing themselves down by just 12 points. The Lady Pioneers staged a comeback in the fourth quarter. They worked their way back in the game to bring the deficit all the way down to two points. Late in the game, PUC was forced to foul, but the Keelhaulers converted on their free throws stretching the one possession game to 10 points.
